About me
My name is Ian and I am a Brazilian-American Wikimedian living in Casablanca. I have eclectic interests and I contribute in many areas, but I'm especially interested in languages, history, and Arabic literature. My passion for Wikipedia comes from its utility in the liberation of knowledge, in critical historiography, in covering ignored or neglected aspects of history, in the empowerment of oppressed people, and in dismantling oppressive structures.
My work
I write, edit, and translate articles on Wikipedia in Arabic and in English, and I contribute on Wikimedia Commons with my own photography and public domain images.
I served as the GLAM coordinator for the Wikimedia Morocco User Group in 2020.
A video in which I speak in Arabic about why I volunteer on Wikipedia.
